Abbert Lifestyle & Grocery Branding

When Ireland was hit by COVID the country was forced into lockdown. Thousands of restaurant owners had to close their doors indefinitely and try to adapt to the profound effects the restrictions would have on their businesses once allowed to re-open. One such business affected was Gather Restaurant in Tuam, Co Galway. An award-winning eatery run by 2 local sisters. Aware that under the new guidelines they would be not able to facilitate enough custom to stay in business they decided to open a lifestyle and grocery store called Abbert, a space where they could provide regulars with their favourite products to take away and offer local artists and craft designers a space to sell their work.

When I was asked to design the branding for the store, the girls knew they wanted something clean, simple and that would work well to represent both the food and lifestyle sides of the business. We opted for a clean, thin sans serif font, creating a delicate, contemporary and identifiable logo and tagline. The framing around the logo works well with POS. The colours were selected for the earthy neutral appearance.
